Love and Laughter:
A Healing Journey
by Catherine Ripplinger
Fenwick
Love and Laughter is a Revised and Expanded
Edition of Healing With
Humour,
the Canadian Bestseller that
has helped thousands of people to rediscover hope and joy.
This book “is
a valuable tool to help us look back at ourselves and reflect, pinpoint the
areas of our lives that we have neglected and decide what we want to do with
the time we have left.”
From the Foreword by Dr. David Mibashan
All human beings have a need for meaningful
purposeful work, we all want to be surrounded by loving caring people, and we
all want a life filled with joy and enthusiasm.
Love and Laughter: A Healing Journey is an engaging discussion of what we can do to help
ourselves to create a fuller and more rewarding life. Catherine Fenwick’s first
edition of Healing With
Humour, published in 1995, is a workbook designed to help people
rediscover their laughter, joy and enthusiasm for life. This successful guide
to happy living, has become a Canadian Bestseller. Tens of thousands of people
have attended Catherine’s workshops and seminars. Many people asked her to
include more of her personal stories in the next edition of her book. This she
has done in Love and
Laughter, along with an added chapter, Hope is Knowing I Can Handle It.
Love and Laughter - includes:
An added chapter on Hope and Healing.
A greatly expanded chapter on humour and healing in the workplace.
More
stories and personal experiences, as requested by many of Catherine’s readers.
Catherine Fenwick has more than thirty years of experience as an Educator and Therapist. She faces life head-on and accepts difficult situations with a sense of resolve. This no-nonsense approach did not work so well during surgery and chemo-therapy for cancer. She realized that her usual way of doing things was not working and she had to make some changes. This was a matter of life and death, with many unknowns. She found some comfort in laughter and realized it was more than a passing fancy. Catherine read, searched, explored and tried. She discovered that hope and humour were very important elements in her recovery.
Life can be pretty hard to face at times. People
grow up, adopt a serious attitude, take on responsibilities, we get sick and we
experience loss and suffering. Love and Laughter: A Healing Journey
is designed to help people find hope and joy. Catherine challenges her readers
to have at least one hundred positive thoughts or laughs every day. It includes
an L.Q. (laughter quotient) test, suggestions for activities, things to think
about, and cartoons and stories to tickle your funny-bones.
Love and Laughter will be of interest to people who are:
· experiencing a personal crisis,
· in various stages of the grieving process,
· trying to cope with change and turmoil,
· diagnosed with life-threatening illness,
· wanting to know more about how love and laughter can help to improve their lives.
Love and Laughter: A Healing Journey, originally published as Healing
With Humour is
a book about recovery. It presents basic principles for living and can help
people to look at themselves and reflect, pinpoint areas they have neglected
and decide what they want to do with the time they have left. It discusses in a
straightforward fashion difficult issues such as life, death, joy and
suffering.
Catherine Ripplinger Fenwick, MA (Clinical Psychology) is a therapist, educator, author and cancer survivor, who shares her belief in the value of love and laughter in the healing process. She gives workshops across Canada and speaks at national and international conferences.
